Let’s Hear it For The Boys!

Having just come back from my celebrating my twentieth high school reunion, I can tell you there is nothing more fantastic than the raw honesty created when dealing with people who suffered with you through what is probably one of the most awkward times in all of our lives.  And it was in this homey little pocket of honesty that I was taken to task by my guy friends from high school for not giving a shout out to the good guys more often.

Ugh.  I had no defense.  They were right and I was wrong.  I so hate when that happens.

As much as I like to promote cause of  self-rescuing princesses everywhere, truth be told it is awfully hard to do it if you don’t have at least a few knights in shining armor ready to help you fight the dragons.

So let me start with the awesome dads I am so blessed to count as friends.  Like James who dutifully has gone through the circle of hell that is potty training two-year old twins with the same dedication and devotion to success as his wife (major applause please). Or how about my amazing friend Matt who is raising his own self-rescuing princess all by himself!  And he’s done this while working full-time and putting himself through a PhD program.  Matt is also very good-looking and straight so if you are a sane and supportive singleton living in New York City please send me your contact information (must love children, obviously).  And last but never least (though he always thinks he is), my amazing husband, Peter.  Who when someone asks me “how do you do it?” I tell them I married well.  And anyone who is a true dear friend of mine knows that is the truth.

But let’s not forget the knights in the workplace.  Over the years I’ve worked with countless male business owners who I’ve seen promote women to the highest places in their company and groom them for taking it over when they retire.  Wish I could spell out their names in lights or fly them in banners trailing from airplanes but pretty sure that would violate client privacy (sigh). I’ve been fortunate enough over the years to benefit from chivalry in the workplace as well.  Men who have swapped Red Sox stories with me, acted as my mentors, trusted me with their referrals, and had my back. These are the guys that through the years have helped me pull the knives out of my back and  shown me that the alligators in the moat are really just guppies – mean guppies but guppies nonetheless.

Thank you to all you amazing men I know and the millions of others out there who truly get it.  Those men who don’t have to dominate a woman but celebrate having a peer at the office and a partner in life.  So on behalf of me and all the other self-rescuing princesses out there:  You Rock!

Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness and appearance. I must say you have done a awesome job with this. Also, the blog loads very quick for me on Safari. Exceptional Blog!

You genuinely make it appear so effortless together with your presentation but I uncover this theme to be truly something that I consider I would certainly not fully grasp. It looks too complicated and extremely broad for me. I’m wanting ahead to your up coming post, I’ll try to put together the hang of it!

In your opinion, do you think it is better to take the traditional path of becoming a physician by going straight into medical school after undergrad. Or, is it good to take any time of in between undergraduate school, medical school, or residency? If you are a non-traditional medical student, I would love your opinion..

I remember the day like it was yesterday or even an hour ago. I was 8 years old and I was in my first full week of 3rd grade. I can remember my teacher walking over to me and telling me that I’m a lucky little girl and that I get to go home. Of course no one knew why and kids were continuously leaving the classroom to go home. My mom told me that my dad wasn’t coming home today and something happened in the city. She refused to listen to the radio and she was not very happy at all! I remember going home and spending almost four days at my uncle’s house and then awaiting a phone call. I remember everyone keeping me occupied because they know I tend to worry a lot. But I was just a little kid that didn’t know what was going on at the same time. September 11th affected my family greatly. We lost 13 firemen who were practically like family. They were 13 great men who are no longer with us today, but we keep them in our thoughts and prayers always. I thank god that my father survived this tragedy. My father was a NYC firefighter in Ladder Company 3. He loved his job and was very devoted to it. September 11th affected him greatly. My father now had to retire due to injuries and sicknesses. He doesn’t let it get in the way of his life, and he always stays positive and focuses on making sure his four children and his wife are always happy and that his children succeed. Ten years later I’m now a freshman here at Molloy College, 18 years old now and remembering every day what happened on September 11th 2001. When walking back and forth to my classes I think of their faces knowing that they’re watching over me and guiding me.

Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I am starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to obtain guidance from somebody with experience. Any assistance could be greatly appreciated!

Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. As a peacemaker the lawyer has superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog?

Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so
people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1
or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
